A horribly mutilated horse in the Hérault

An investigation was opened Wednesday following new mutilations on a horse in Vacquières (Hérault), the Montpellier prosecutor’s office told AFP.

The nature of these mutilations excludes “that they are the result of an animal act”, said the deputy prosecutor of the Republic of Montpellier Jacques-Philippe Redon.

According to sources familiar with the matter, confirming information from Free noon, the horse was emasculated and had his eyes gouged out during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in this village, located 30 km north of Montpellier.

Since August, dozens of investigations have been opened following the sometimes fatal mutilations of equines on French territory.
