Professor Didier Raoult lodged a complaint with the Ordre des médecins des Bouches-du-Rhône against the vice-president of this body in charge of ethics, for “non-confraternity”, announced his lawyer Me Brice Grazzini. The director of the Institut hospitalo-universitaire Méditerranée Infection (IHU) based in Marseille, accuses Dr. Guillaume Gorincour, about fifty tweets denigrating him.

“This is all the more serious since Dr Gorincour is vice-president of the Order’s council responsible for communication and ethics. The rules of the body provide that its members, in charge of a public service mission , respect a duty of reserve “, underlined Me Grazzini. The Order’s departmental council was not immediately reachable. Professor Raoult warns through the voice of his lawyer that he will prosecute “all those who are guilty of defamation, insult, reckless or slanderous denunciation towards him or towards the IHU and its activities” .

This complaint against a member of the Council of the Order comes a few days after that filed by this ordinal authority with the regional disciplinary chamber against the professor. The Order accuses him of several ethical breaches. This procedure was initiated following the referral to the Council of the Order by the French-speaking Society of Infectious Pathology (SPILF) accusing the doctor of failing in his duty of confraternity and of using non-validated treatments, in this case. hydroxychloroquine.

Professor Raoult has been conducting clinical trials for several months with his team in Marseille on hydroxychloroquine, an inexpensive and commonly used treatment for malaria, and claims that it is effective against the coronavirus.
But many scientists and the World Health Organization criticized Professor Raoult’s studies, saying they had not been conducted according to standard scientific protocols.
