The Colombian singer-songwriter of Vallenata Romualdo Brito’s music died this Friday, November 20, 2020 in a traffic accident on a highway in the department of Cesar (north), local authorities reported.
Brito, author of songs like El santo cachón, performed by Los Embajadores Vallenatos and Silvestre Dangond; My best song, Esposa mía, Cabecita loca y El Indio, came out at dawn on a trip of more than 800 kilometers between Valledupar, the capital of César, and Bogotá.
Cesar’s police commander, Colonel Jesús de los Reyes, informed reporters that the incident occurred in a rural area of the municipality of Chiriguaná, when the truck in which Brito was a passenger “left the road , railing, it overturned and then hit a tree. “
The officer explained that the vehicle Brito was driving in was driven by Alex Miguel Montero, who suffered a broken arm and had to be sent to Chiriguaná hospital where he is being held.
Also in the truck was a son of the composer from Vallenato, named Romualdo Brito De la Cruz, 18, injured in the leg and transferred to the town of Curumaní, in the south of the department of Caesar.
Brito, 67 years old, was born in the municipality of Tomarrazón in the department of La Guajira (north), he composed more than 1,500 songs of Vallenato which have been recorded by the most important performers of this Colombian musical genre.
